About Chairmen Of The Board
American soul music vocal group, active mostly in the 1970's and still touring.
When left in 1967 to establish their own / group of record labels, was teamed with Eddie Custis, & Canadian born as the new company's flagship act, under the appropriate name "Chairmen of the Board". Custis left the group after their second album.
Although they all had a turn at lead vocals, Johnson's voice is lead on their biggest hit, "Give Me Just a Little More Time

What songs are on this album?
Remains me of the lead singer of the group the four tops
Rhythm Roulette Havoc 25:27
This was one of the rare groups that hit you from so many different directions it was like 4 groups in one. They had versatility right up there with the Temptations, I think Holland, Dozier, Holland knew it but considering how much of a talent vault they had at Invictus, just couldn't devote the time. Freda Payne, Honey Cone,100Proof,Glass House,Laura Lee,8th Day was a full plate to say the least, oops almost forgot The H,D,H project and the Flaming Embers. One of the reasons to me the 70's was the best decade for music as a whole. EVERYBODY was coming out with smashes from country to rock, blues, soul, jazz, salsa, gospel and pop. That era is truly helping me get through this coronacrap. Matter of fact let me put on some Staple Singers.

I still have this album in the basement!
They had three lead singers with entirely different styles.

This album is a weave of The Chairman of The Board, Holland Dozier and Holland and the music of the late 60's and early 70's. It works. It's a shame that Holland Dozier Holland couldn't build on the Invictus and Hot Wax labels. There's no telling what the state of music would be.
Record companies need to get their act together and start working with bands that are as good as these guys, they are out there, it's just record companies are not willing to move away from the financial safety of what is known as, the Millennial Whoop. Anything different is a big risk when promoting it over the radio. This is why nearly all music today sounds the same.
¡gracia' Raul!
Havoc and Rhythm Roulette bought me here

Dunbar-Wayne were really Brian Holland and Lamont Dozier.
Great, great track from their debut album. "He talked a hole in your head, and blew your mind". What a lyric. Personal favorite.
