This wonderful piece came from a really good LP MFP in UK.Still cannot understand why Cui had it in for Tchaikovsky.Try first piano prelude
I had this album in Junior High School. A very long time ago. I don't have any idea where it could be. Could someone post it or let me know where I could locate a copy of the complete album?
This reminds me of song from Aladin
Noticing the other comments here I have to agree that it does sound similar to Tchaikovsky's March Slave, which he originally titled "Serbo-Russian March" in 1876. It was commissioned for a concert to show Russia's support for Serbia in the Serbo-Turkish War and the main theme is a Serbian melody by Isador Ciric. Cui wrote the Orientale in 1893 as part of a suite for violin and piano called Kaleidoscope; it is the only "exotic" movement in the 24-part suite.
MEMORIES......THIS IS ONE OF MY MOST FAVORITE-HAVE THE ALBUM-INHERITED FROM MY MOM & DAD.....D.C. DRAKE & W.B. DRAKE (DRAKE
Lovely and evocative, no small thanks to a certain P.I. Tchaikovsky; Cui's variations are sweet, though. Nice orchestration, I'd love to have this album!
Oh, I have the piano-arrangment for it. :3
I LOVE the surface clicks! It feels like I'm back in my younger days, listening to this thing on an old 60s record player, late at night, quietly so I don't wake up my girlfriend, while I sit and drink way too much Scotch.
Marche Slav?
this was my mother's very favorite album, and I thank you for putting in Kashmiri Song, this was her 'theme song', if one has one for their life. Thank you so very much! Mary.
OK, thanks again.
