Review by Jade

The Bluegrass Album Volume One by Bluegrass Album Band JD Crowe, Tony Rice, Doyle Lawson, Bobby Hicks, Todd Phillips is a fantastic collection of bluegrass music. The album features some of the most talented musicians in the genre, and they don't disappoint. The instrumentation is top-notch, with each instrument shining in its own right.

The album kicks off with "Blue Ridge Cabin Home," a classic bluegrass tune that sets the tone for the rest of the record. The vocal harmonies are spot-on, and the instrumental breaks are impressive. The album also includes covers of some of the genre's most beloved songs, such as "Molly and Tenbrooks" and "I'm on My Way Back to the Old Home."

One of the standout tracks on the album is "In the Pines." The haunting melody and sparse instrumentation give the song a mournful feel that perfectly captures the lyrics' sadness. Another highlight is "Toy Heart," which features some impressive guitar work from Tony Rice.

Excellent version!!
Thanks for all the great music gentlemen. This one can't be beat.
Bluegrass Album Band forever, the best in bluegrass for years, decades and centuries!
Love this. Just wondering if that’s Tony and Doyle or if there’s a third part...they done a great job!
When I was growing up with my sainted grandmother, many times in the summer late in the evening we would sit on the front porch and watch the evening mist come up the holler. She would sing this song. So many memories tied up in these verses.
Bought this great album on my first visit to Nashville.
2 minor corrections - The music upward 'rolled' (rhymes with gold) & it had the old 'time' ring.
beautiful,,,,,,,i remember it from my childhood
This popped into my head a few days ago. So I came to listen. "There'll be no sorrow there." Indeed.
Dear wife I found a model church
And worshipped there today
It made me think of the good old times
Before my hair was gray

The meetinghouse was finer built
Than they were years ago
But I found out when I went in
It was not built for show

The sexton did not sit me down
Away back by the door
He knew that I was old and deaf
And saw that I was poor

He must have been a Christian man
He led me boldly through
The long aisle of that crowded church
To find a pleasant pew

I wish you'd heard the singing, wife
it had the old town ring
The preacher said with trumpet voice
Let all the people sing

Oh Coronation was the tune
The music upward roared
I thought I heard the angel choir
Strike on their harps of gold

I tell you wife it did me good
To sing those hymns once more
I felt just like some wrecked marine
Who gets a glimpse of shore

It made want to lay aside
This weather beaten form
And anchor in that blessed port
Forever from the storm

Dear wife the toil will soon be o'er
The victory soon be won
The shining strand is just ahead
Our race is nearly run

We're near to Canaan's happy shore
Our hopes are bright and fair
Thank God we'll never sin again
There'll be no sorrow there

There'll be no sorrow there
In heaven above
Where all is love
There'll be no sorrow there
Praise the Lord. My soul is satisfied. I love singing this song to my wife.
I just LOVE that old song and LOVE Doyle Lawson!!!
Are these gentlemen still singing?
