Black Beauty's latest album, Seren, is a mesmerizing journey through atmospheric soundscapes and haunting melodies. The Welsh trio, consisting of singer and guitarist Angharad van Rijswijk, bassist and keyboardist Adam Parfitt, and drummer and percussionist Steffan Owens, have crafted a collection of songs that are both ethereal and grounded, evoking a sense of mystery and wonder.
Opening track "Seren" sets the tone with its dreamy guitars and Van Rijswijk's ethereal vocals, while "Dawns" brings a more upbeat, danceable rhythm to the mix. "Golau" showcases the band's ability to create a lush soundscape with layers of synths and percussion, while "Dydd" is a more stripped-down, introspective track that highlights Van Rijswijk's emotive vocals.
The album's standout track is "Cysgodion", a haunting ballad that builds to a powerful crescendo with Owens' thunderous drums and Parfitt's driving bassline. Closing track "Mae'n Dduwies" is a beautiful and poignant ode to the natural world, with Van Rijswijk's vocals soaring over a backdrop of shimmering guitars and atmospheric synths.
