Review by Karthik Ravi

Marokaït by Anti Rubber Brain Fact0ry, Yoram Rosilio is a captivating album that showcases the unique blend of electronic and world music. The album features catchy beats, intricate melodies, and haunting vocals that transport the listener to another world.

The album opens with the track "Marokaït," which sets the tone for the rest of the album with its pulsating rhythm and hypnotic vocals. The album then moves into the more experimental "Ondes Martenot," which features a haunting melody played on the rare electronic instrument.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Raga," which features a beautiful blend of traditional Indian music and modern electronic beats. The track is a perfect example of Yoram Rosilio's ability to seamlessly blend different styles of music into a cohesive and captivating whole.

Notes

  • Mar0kAït has been recorded in september 2016 during public sessions at the Anis Gras (in the neighbourhood of Paris) and carries out, as the logical following of every preceding works of Arbf orchestra, a new panel in the artistic search between jazz and trance Moroccan traditional musics.
  • The pieces here displayed are adapted from sound collections of popular works from Morocco : melodies, rhythms and structures remains almost identical as original versions but the whole thing is consciously and firmly stifted through western and improvised sound texture, inflections, intonations, aesthetic and know-how. This album is therefore intended to be an artistic and anachronic exercice in style which carries once more northern-african sonorities toward contemporary Parisian imagination where they are reverbarated.
