Review by Iina Martikainen

The album Requiem KV 626 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a masterpiece that showcases the composer's genius and skill in creating music that touches the soul. The album features performances by Ingrid Schmithüsen, Catherine Patriasz, Matthias Hölle, La Petite Bande, Sigiswald Kuijken, and Nederlands Kamerkoor, who all contribute to making this album a standout in the classical music genre.

The album's opening track, "Requiem aeternam," sets the tone for what is to come, with its haunting melodies and powerful vocals. The use of the chorus in this track is particularly effective, as it adds depth and richness to the piece. The album continues with tracks such as "Dies irae" and "Tuba mirum," which are both powerful and stirring.

One of the highlights of the album is the performance by Ingrid Schmithüsen in the track "Lacrimosa." Her voice is both ethereal and emotive, and she brings a sense of vulnerability to the piece that is truly moving.

Throughout the album, the instrumental performances by La Petite Bande are exceptional. Their use of period instruments adds an authentic and unique quality to the music, and their skill and precision are evident in every track.
