For the last four decades of her life, she used a wheelchair and was carried to the stage to perform by her husband, after being paralyzed from a stray bullet that hit her spine. She dropped the "i" from her first name after recording her first two CDs for HighNote, so this is the same artist as . Born September 15, 1947, died after a battle with cancer on February 9, 2018.
