Review by Simonne Lee

Slights Unspoken by Voigt465 is a captivating album that showcases the band's unique blend of electronic and experimental music. The album features a range of tracks that are both haunting and mesmerizing, with each song telling its own story through the use of intricate soundscapes and evocative lyrics.

The album opens with the atmospheric "Disconnected," which sets the tone for the rest of the record with its brooding electronic beats and haunting vocals. From there, the album takes listeners on a journey through a range of emotions, from the melancholic "Falling Apart" to the frenetic "Chasing Ghosts."

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Unraveling," which features a hypnotic melody and haunting vocals that perfectly capture the song's somber mood. Meanwhile, "The Waiting" is a more upbeat track that showcases the band's ability to create infectious beats and catchy hooks.

I am sure I saw Voigt 654 play at the Sussex Hotel and maybe once at Side FX in Darlinghurst? Anyway I remember the singer liked to bang on a silly long metal pole with a stick or a rod and sing in a high voice ,out of tune. It was painful to my young impressional ears. Yes Looking back I guess Voigt 654 were a do -it yourself alternative music band. They did have a edgy Arty New wave sound, but as a 17 year old Sydney Punk, I found many of their songs un danceable and smug. Art school New wave bands did tend to Wank on a bit. Their audiences like most art school New wave band were often made up of their own alternative small music scene. Arty sounding alternative music bands were never that appreciated at the time , playing around Sydney's inner city circuit. I guess Live music Band goers were too spoiled for choice generally to get Avant Garde, Arty and serious . I'm sure Voigt 654 went down much better in ''Try Hard'' Melbourne back then.
Hi there. Hopefully you'll see this comment sometime. I never realized we'd been played on peels show. Thanks for the nice comments. 30 years ago now. Re release via chapter music later this year.
