Sgt. Pepper Knew My Father is an album that pays tribute to the iconic Beatles album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Featuring covers of every track from the original album, this collection also includes additional tracks that were inspired by the Beatles' music.
The album features a diverse range of artists, from established musicians like The Fall and The Wedding Present to up-and-coming acts like The Mighty Lemon Drops and The Shop Assistants. Despite the variety of performers, the album maintains a cohesive sound and tone throughout.
Each track on the album offers a unique take on the original Beatles song, with some artists staying faithful to the original while others add their own flair and interpretation. Highlights include The Three Wize Men's soulful rendition of "With a Little Help from My Friends," The Bodines' jangly take on "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," and The Triffids' haunting version of "She's Leaving Home."
