To Mega Therion -

Review by Reggie Rodrigue

To Mega Therion's eponymous album is a masterclass in atmospheric black metal. The Swedish band's third release is a haunting, immersive experience that draws the listener into a world of dark, brooding soundscapes. From the opening track, "The Bloodline," with its slow, menacing riff and eerie choral vocals, to the epic closer, "The Serpent's Tongue," To Mega Therion create a sense of otherworldly dread that is both captivating and unsettling.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Coven," which features guest vocals from none other than Attila Csihar of Mayhem. His distinctive, guttural growls add an extra layer of intensity to an already powerful song. Meanwhile, "The Great Rites" showcases the band's ability to create a sense of grandeur and majesty, with its soaring guitar melodies and epic, almost symphonic feel.
