About Syd Barrett
British guitarist, singer, songwriter, composer, and painter.
Born: 6 January 1946 in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, UK.
Died: 7 July 2006 in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, UK (aged 60).
A key figure in the development of London's underground music scene during the late 1960s, anddespite his rather brief period of activitya continuing influence on popular (and unpopular) music onward into the 21st century. Unfortunately, soon after achieving success with , he began to suffer from mental problems, possibly complicated by drug use, from which he never fully recovered.
Having become increasingly unpredictable in person and unreliable as a performer, he was pushed out of the band in 1968. He continued with a brief solo career, releasing eclectic albums The Madcap Laughs and Barrett, before leaving the music industry and spending the rest of his life living in relative seclusion.
In 1972 he was in the brief super-group "Stars" that played a small number of live concerts in Cambridge in February 1972. Its members were Syd Barrett on guitar, Twink on drums, and Jack Monck on bass .
Barrett had an infamous "reunion" with Pink Floyd in 1975, when he showed up at the mixing session for Shine On You Crazy Diamond, ironically a song written in tribute to him. His appearanceoverweight and shaven-hairedshocked and saddened his former bandmates.
Barrett died in 2006, following complications with diabetes.

Good choice for the tribute and well put together.

brilliant absent minded sanity
Amazing music indeed, solid through and through. I think I've heard this when I was lil
Mahalo Syd Barrett ????
I love me some Pink Floyd...but the Barrett days really anchored my love.
Forever ♾ ?
Fantastic fantasises. From Syd Barrett, the inspiration founder of the Pink Floyd. I thank whoever found this in the archive. A million thanks. Now I downloaded it to my JukeBox and will listen merrily and think of Syd often. RIP
He was totally LSD.
Absolutely ? too...
The ferment of a group that will become a flagship during the decade. Everything starts here, everything is already there. Ah, the good years.
A bear and a bunny rabbit were taking a shit in the woods and the bear looked at the bunny rabbit and said bunny rabbit do you have problems with shit sticking to your fur the bunny rabbit said to the bear no I do not have problems with shit sticking to my fur so The bear wiped his ass with the bunny rabbit. Let's put it to trippy music
Awesome !!!
As terrifying as it may have been at times, I wish I could have seen life through Syd's eyes.
We were all born to walk a path that leads us to our destiny. Whether it's death at an early age , becoming a vegetable from too much drugs and or mental health. Think about the events that actually led up to Pink Floyd being successful it makes you without a doubt know that there is a God and an unseen energy that flows through all of us connecting us. They were pumping out albums in the '70s that were and would be acceptable today. They were the first music ever transmitted on Long Wave radio to bounce off satellite that's why it's still first in space stands as is, they filmed a live concert in a arena in Pompeii that was so magical and haunting that you can almost hear the people calling out to you from ages long ago. But yet they can't even sit in a room with each other but I guess that's family .
Masterpiece!
Terrapin is such a great song, musically and lyrically. Is this version different than the album. There’s a minor chord or two, I think, in here that I don’t remember from the original. Not sure, though. Any musos out there who can address that?
Genial - Obrigado!
Sad, uma viagem na imensidão..?️??
Syd went to far for us. So far we couldn't follow. But he left us with gems like this
Es muy grato oír y disfrutar la música de Syd Barret.
1.970 was the year to say goodbye: Beatles, Hendrix, Joplin, Barrett, Velvet underground...
Syd is genius for future.
Really good. Still sounds fresh to me.
