Stan Levey - This Time The Drums On Me

rockpapersimple

Review by Joshua Adams

This Time The Drums On Me, the album by legendary jazz drummer Stan Levey, is a must-listen for any jazz enthusiast. The album features Levey's expert drumming skills, which he showcases in each of the ten tracks. The album's opening track "I Love You" sets the tone for the rest of the album, with Levey's steady beat and precise fills. The album also features some of the best musicians of the time, including trumpeter Conte Candoli and saxophonist Richie Kamuca, who add depth and complexity to the music. The album's standout track is "Blues for Jean," a slow and soulful blues number that showcases Levey's ability to create a deep groove. This Time The Drums On Me is a masterclass in drumming and jazz music, and a must-have for any serious jazz collection.

What Raef said!
I remember hearing this on the former Jazz radio station in L.A., KKGO,  with host Chuck Niles. This was 1980- 81; Living in Studio City and getting a real Be Bop education via the radio. Man, I miss those days. Stan didn't live too far from me from what I was told. So many great cats out there in the Valley at the time. Thanks for posting this classic. This is heaven to the ears.
Bien de bien...
Yeah man!!!!
