Review by Daniel Bahl

The album Theme From Dr Kildare Three Stars Will Shine Tonight Desafinado by Stan Getz is a delightful mix of jazz and pop. The album features a variety of tracks that showcase Getz's incredible talent on the saxophone, as well as his ability to interpret popular songs of the time.

The album opens with the theme from the popular TV show Dr Kildare, which sets the tone for the rest of the album. Getz's smooth saxophone playing is accompanied by a lush string section that adds depth and warmth to the track.

Other standout tracks on the album include the Latin-infused Desafinado, which features Getz's signature bossa nova style, and Three Stars Will Shine Tonight, a beautiful ballad that showcases Getz's ability to play with emotion and sensitivity.

@Raves0From0The0Grave LOL! Thanx for the response.
@jazznik2 ...would not be ENDING yet (McArthur Park is 7:09) - and hoped no-one would notice!

And out of many thousands of hitters - few HAVE!

For the record (so to speak) my 45 of the track is INDEED on Verve - a British issue, released by EMI on HMV - but with the Verve logo underneath ("Verve Series"). A couple of years later, EMI began releasing Verve with its OWN label (Jimmy Smith was a popular artist in Britain by then).

So now you know - but don't TELL anyone!!!
@jazznik2 WELL SPOTTED! The truth is - the single shown playing on the video is Richard Harris' "McArthur Park" - on a yellow-labelled record (just like MGM records). I originally intended to video EACH of my uploads playing, separately - and then match the recordings to the audio, in each case.

Then it occurred how LONG that would TAKE me - FOR OVER two hundred UPLOADS!

So I picked the longest 45 in my collection, video-ed it from a low angle, to disguise the fact that most of the uploads...
Wow! How interesting!
Havent heard this in years. My parents had a 45 of this when I was a kid. Pretty sure it was a Verve label because Desafinado (from the Big Band Bossa album) was the featured tune and this was on the flip side. But it looks like this 45 is an MGM label. Thanx for posting!
My old man played this when I was a child in the 60s...guess it touched my soul then, it inspired my life long obsession with jazz, Ska, Reggae, Studio one ..etc...played it at his funeral... Love....R.I.P Dad, later will be Greater! ...as Jimi said "see you the next one"I
What an outstanding song from my distant youth!!! A record my father owned, thanks Dad!
I don't recall ever having watched the show. Probably was on past my bedtime, as was "Peyton Place" which I was Forbidden to watch!! "That show is NOT for chidren..." ?????????
I've loved that song for years. Never heard this version. It's nice!
Love this rendition of the Dr. Kildare theme. Getz is masterful.
Thanks for reminding me of my favourite theme tune My dad brought home a box full of 45s from a fete this was on the B side of Stan Getzs Girl from Ipanema which was the first thing I ever learnt by ear on vibes and it was the first big band thing I heard 2 years later I was in a local Big Band at 13 years old on piano congas and vibes I went on to have a beautiful career in music
My parents had this record. I love it. There was a television show called, "Dr. Kildare." I was too young to know what that was about (I was about seven). That was my bedtime. On the flip-side of this record is "Desifinado." Therefore, I did not know what was the "A" side or the "B" side, because both a great tunes.
i just love this thank you mucho
Thanks for posting this. I loved this when I was a kid and it still swings!
this is a very smooth song the sound of the drums and guitar and the horn playing nice and relaxing drifting off to sleep go together very well. it"s amazing what some of these musicians can come up with everybody has to stop playing if it doesn"t sound right
so funky.
Perfect comment above. For Me it’s great to relax to or to express myself through dancing.I saw him at Ronnie Scott’s in Soho ❤ Dancing spirit unfolding
Thanks, aappleknocker. When I was stationed on Okinawa in the 60's one particular bar had this 45 on the jukebox, I would make a special visit to this bar just to play this recording to unwind.
I STILL LOVE THIS GREAT SONG ! R.K. 12/1/2022.?
