Review by Brett Caven

Symphony No 15 by Shostakovitch, performed by the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Maxim Shostakovich, is an impressive and captivating album. The orchestra's execution of Shostakovitch's complex and emotive score is nothing short of exceptional. Each movement is performed with precision and passion, bringing the composer's vision to life.

The album opens with the hauntingly beautiful Adagio, which sets the tone for the rest of the symphony. The orchestra's delicate and nuanced playing is particularly impressive in this movement, allowing the listener to fully appreciate the intricate harmonies and textures of the score.

The second movement, Allegretto, is a lively and playful piece that showcases the orchestra's technical proficiency. The musicians execute the complex rhythms and intricate melodies with ease, creating a joyful and energetic atmosphere.

The third movement, Adagio, is a deeply emotional and introspective piece that highlights the orchestra's ability to convey the composer's intent. The musicians play with sensitivity and nuance, creating a powerful and moving performance.

The final movement, Allegretto, is a tour de force that brings the symphony to a thrilling conclusion. The orchestra's energy and precision are on full display, making for a truly memorable performance.
