Wild Cowboys II, the latest album by Sadat X, is a masterclass in old-school hip hop. The veteran rapper, known for his work with Brand Nubian, has created a seamless blend of classic beats and rhymes with a contemporary edge.
The album opens with "The Devil is Near," a haunting track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. Sadat X's distinctive voice is at its best, weaving in and out of the beat with ease. The album's standout track is "The Five Boroughs," a love letter to New York City that is both nostalgic and fresh. The track features verses from a range of New York-based rappers, including AG, El Da Sensei, and Lord Jamar.
Throughout the album, Sadat X showcases his lyrical prowess, tackling political and social issues with ease. "Ain't Nothing Funny" is a powerful track that speaks to the struggles faced by African Americans in the United States, while "The O.G. Connolly" is a tribute to the late rapper Sean Price.
