Review by Libby Patterson

Tennessee Saturday Night is a classic country album by Red Foley, released in 1958. The album features twelve tracks that showcase Foley's unique blend of honky-tonk and rockabilly music. The album's title track is a lively tune that captures the spirit of a night out in Tennessee, complete with fiddles, guitars, and a rollicking beat.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Chattanooga Shoe Shine Boy," a catchy tune that became one of Foley's biggest hits, and "Old Shep," a touching ballad about a beloved dog. Foley's rich, deep voice is a highlight throughout the album, and he proves himself to be a talented songwriter as well as a skilled performer.

Number One song on Country and Western Radio Stations on my birthday in 1949.
12 August 1947 Castle Studio, The Tulane Hotel, 206 8th Ave. North, Nashville, TN - Red Foley (Cumberland Valley Boys) Zeke Turner [gt], Louis Innis [gt], Jerry Byrd [steel], Lee Reynolds [bass], Farris Courtney [drums], Tommy Jackson [violin], Beasley Smith [piano]
Rumoured that Elvis recorded this.
Whoever played steel on this record really knew what they were doing
This song of Red Foley is the true begining of Rock & Roll in 1948; and the firts singer in use the word "rock" was a Ike Turner with Rocket 88 (1951); Elvis isn't the inventor of Rock, singing "That's All right"/1954);Elvis didn't create of Rock (it was a commercial fantasy) but he was the best Rocker with his success and marketing help.
This style of heavy metal belong to Chuck Berry and after to J. Hendrix for the sound of their guitars.
This is the way it is supposed to sound. Early Rock "N" Roll.
I've known of Red Foley all my life, but never heard his music...until a few nights ago.  I'm lovin it!
Thanks so much for this. I have hunted this original recording for decades. And Jerry Byrd played on this with Red. What a song. The arrangement AND the rhythm was superb.

Thanks again.
It doesn't get any better than this, Real Music!!
Love it.
do you by some chance have Don't Blame It On The Girl by Red thanks
This is the first version I heard back in 1950. It was played by a talented but unknown guitarist named Robert Atwood down in McAllen,Texas
Thanks for posting!
great western swing
When I was a kid, (late '50s) my Grandmother gave me this record-in 78 format! Decca!  I wore the damn thing out!!
If you listen to the words he is calling moves for a square dance
Father-in-law of Pat Boone indeed, nice early track,
fucking get it
Recorded on March 19, 1953.
My dad used to play this record for me when I was a kid. Loved it. Thanks!
LOVE THIS SONG
Recorded on January 9, 1947.
Why does this have a fake echo? It seems like everything on your channel either has some awful reverb or is in fake stereo.
Hey grandpa I know you sing ing about sex not pinball, you sneaked by censoring by looking old and innocent ??
Why the fake stereo?
Love Red Foley. The first time I heard this song, he sang it. I've loved it ever since. Thanks for posting.
Not the best version
Another good one by Red!! I remember a pinball game 10 cents, 3 for a quarter but a nickle is a bit before my time.Nice 78- am going to search eBay for a decent copy :-)
