Review by Miftahul Ulum

Radiophonica by Radiophonic Workshop is an album that takes listeners on an experimental journey through sound. The album is a tribute to the pioneering work of the Radiophonic Workshop, a group of electronic musicians who created sound effects and music for the BBC in the 1960s and 1970s.

The album features a range of electronic sounds, from the eerie and atmospheric to the playful and upbeat. The tracks often blend together seamlessly, creating a cohesive and immersive listening experience.

One standout track is "Burial in Space," which features pulsing electronic beats and haunting melodies that evoke a sense of mystery and intrigue. Another highlight is "Not Come to Light," a slower, more introspective track that showcases the group's expertise in creating ambient soundscapes.

About The Radiophonic Workshop

Initiated in 1958 by Daphne Oram and Desmond Briscoe to create 'special sound' for BBC radio programmes and later famously supplied the "Doctor Who" TV series with its theme tune. It was eventually closed in 1998, by which time many of the future pioneers of electronica, had either been employed at the workshop, or had been inspired by the work that was created there.
