The Poets - So Young A Sure Thing

Review by Vincent Lavandier Pagenel

So Young A Sure Thing by Poets is a delightful album that showcases the band's musical prowess and lyrical depth. The album is a mix of upbeat and mellow tracks that explore themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery.

The opening track, "So Young," is a catchy and energetic song that sets the tone for the rest of the album. It is followed by "A Sure Thing," a slower, introspective track that displays the band's ability to create beautiful melodies and poignant lyrics.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Lose Myself," a haunting ballad that showcases the lead singer's emotive voice, and "Stay," a bittersweet love song that is both heartfelt and relatable.

About The Poets

One of two USA groups with the same name working in different parts of New York City (the other Poets recorded for and eventually formed the basis for 70s hitmakers the Main Ingredient, see ). The Poets recorded three 45s for Juggy Murrays Symbol records in the mid-60s. Led by Ronnie Lewis (who gets co-writing credit with Murray), the Poets also featured Melvin Bradford, Paul Fulton and Johnny James. She Blew a Good Thing made it all the way to #2 on the R&B charts (scraping the outer limits of the Pop Top 40) in the spring of 1966.

For decades I thought these's were brothers only to find out they were blue eyed and pale but they sho-nuff could wail Irish brothers from across the pond go figure they had it.
Damn. I hope this is not an end of an era.
why new videos has been deleted?
Hey Soullhawk, I'm desperate to see a lot of music just disappeared... is it momentary ?
where'd all the recent uploads go :O
Follow up single to "SHE BLEW A GOOD THING"
????
Beautifully arranged by Mr Tee..
? ? ⚓ ♥ ? thank you ✨
Thanks, Soulhawk, for posting both sides of this super single (b/w "A Sure Thing") by the Brooklyn group, the Poets, arranged by the always incredible Richard Tee, with this side co-written by group member Ronnie Lewis. This followed closely after their big hit, "She Blew a Good Thing" (Symbol 214), also composed by Ronnie Lewis, which peaked at #2 on the US R&B charts (and reached #45 on Billboard's Hot 100) in March of 1966. Here's a great article about the group and the Symbol label (a subsidiary of Sue Records): https://popdose.com/soul-serenade-the-poets-she-blew-a-good-thing/
I really like The Poets.
Thank you Soul Hawk!❤️
