@ 0-20 - this looks like the all too brief, original line up of Pickettywitch....summer, 1969.
From the left......Keith Hall, Polly Brown, Maggie Farron,
Dave Martyr, Chris Warren, Martin Bridges and Bob Brittain.
A few months later, Maggie and Dave left the band, Martin
switched from bass to lead guitar with Mike Tomich coming in to play bass.

On the ''B'' Side, Solomon Grundy @ 3-58 and 4-56..that definitely sounds like Polly,..much more softer and gentler singing voice but otherwise I can only assume that the other female Maggie Farron is the main vocalist ...seems to be more dominant above Polly on the verses, harmonies and chorus.
For 1969-70, it was virtually unheard of for there to be a female at the head of a pop band, so briefly there would have been TWO with Polly and Maggie. Roughly at the same time, there was a black woman Madeline Bell up front jointly with a male in Blue Mink.

Dionne Warwick in UK.
Only briefly with the band for a few months up to Oct. 1969, Maggie Farron (she had very short blond hair, in a page boy style) joined Polly on vocals. A somewhat high pitched male voice, Chris Warren, twice comes in as a solo on this ''B'' Side, think it must have been Dave Martyr also on lead guitar. He also left the band but soon after Maggie did.
They must have been sickened when Pickettywitch struck gold months later with the classic ''Same Old Feeling'',...early 1970.

Really disappointing debut single, never going to trouble the charts.
The next one, ''That Same Old Feeling'' got them out the soup, reaching no. 5 in the charts.
If that break through had never happened, I think they would have sunk without trace.

Another great song by Polly
cute song. i used to think the lead singer was black.
First recordings of Pickettywitch..very odd...but Polly does not sound like Diana Ross or Dionne Warwick.
With her was Maggie Farron on vocals, so it's not easy to tell them apart but twice a male vocalist comes in as a solo, I think it must be the newly recruited Chris Warren. In October 1969, the group made an appearance on Opportunity Knocks coming second.
Sadly, that tape must have been wiped as it is not on YT.

During the very early days of Pickettywitch forming around Spring, 1969 there was also another female singer alongside Polly, her name was Maggie Farron. The band began their career at their base, a large house in Wales and I wonder if Maggie was recruited locally as I can detect a Welsh accent when she takes up most of the singing slot on this, their first
ever single albeit the ''B'' side.
But notice @ 0-53 and @1-53, you will hear Polly's much softer and more feminine voice.
This record failed to chart and it seems Maggie left the band late summer prior to their
appearance on Opportunity Knocks. Bad news - wrong career move as Pickettywitch
hit the big time achieving much success the following year - so too - also guitarist Dave
Martyr who left shortly after the TV show.

Quite a catchy sing-a-long, nursery rhyme type of song but a bit garish
and jaggedy for my tastes!

Picketywitch - 1 't' in group name - even youtube got it wrong ;) #Picketywitch
b side is Solomon Grundy
They sang this on Opportunity Knocks around Sept/Oct. 1969 and came 2nd. It was the Pickettywitch ''B'' side to ''You got me so I don't know'' their debut single which did not chart in July, 1969.
If this was the very original line-up, mid-1969, I wonder if Maggie Farron was also on vocals with Polly and was Dave Martyr on lead guitar? Good job they next brought out ''Same Old Feeling'', otherwise I think the group would have sunk without trace.

Still a great song in 2019!
in acapello style later on. That opening clavicord sound comes
across as a bit harsh and jagged - I find this song rather garish
in sound, probably not the best opener for a new upcoming band.
