Great vintage R&B Doo-Wop
Otis Williams of the Temptations?
I grew up on these songs. LOVEd them then, Love them now.
I just remember the country version. But I was in Lilly white Phoenix then... Not Red Foley or The Carter Family. Johnny Preston is what I remember. Rockabilly really. So many versions. How did Pat Boone get the cross to carry for sending checks black song writers, who were in the stable of Dot records ?

One of the coolest R&B recordings ever recorded in the 50's. Sax breaks are really rockin.

One of many great songs from Otis Williams and the Charms still play it on my internet radio show Classic Soul me the Masterblaster
Those people that did the covers never matched the originals. I grew up in that era and we always liked the originals best.

It was a custom in the early days of Rock 'n' Roll for black artists to have their songs covered by white artists. The Fontane Sister had a bigger hit with Hearts Of Stone and the Crew-Cuts fared better with Gum Drop.
Very good version. The Crew cuts did another class version of this. ?
Heads made of stone is what the liberals have.
You know this kid?
