Nux Vomica - Casting A Dream To The Sea

Review by Craig D'Avignon

Casting A Dream To The Sea, the latest album by Nux Vomica, is a mesmerizing and intense musical journey that takes the listener on a wild ride through the depths of human emotion. From the haunting and ethereal opening track "Reeling" to the explosive and cathartic closer "Sanity is for the Passive", the album is a masterclass in blending genres and pushing boundaries.

The band's signature blend of black metal, crust punk, and post-punk is on full display throughout the album, but what sets it apart is the way they incorporate elements of post-rock, shoegaze, and even electronic music seamlessly into their sound. The result is a dense and layered sonic landscape that rewards repeated listens.

The album's standout tracks include "The Vomiting Mouth", with its driving rhythm and soaring guitar leads, and "Sanity is for the Passive", which builds to an epic climax that leaves the listener breathless. But it's the album as a whole that leaves the biggest impression, as each track flows seamlessly into the next, creating a cohesive and immersive listening experience.
