I remember this from back in the day and seeing them at Scorgie's in Rochester and it popped into my head...can't believe I found it. Serious cult classic.
Produced by Howard le Canard aka Howard the Duck LOL
How did these guys not hit it big with this song? This is freaking awesome.
Saw them many times at Scorgie's when I was 18. When they played there the place would be packed. I think I wore out my Die Triyin'/Angela CD. Great band :-)
The American “Teenage Kicks.”
New math would come on stage at scorgies late 70s to early 80s at midnight and play for 2 straight hrs. What a time for music unlike the shit pop stuff today and to be 18 years old
The Parasites did this song justice, someone today told me it was a cover of this band which I never heard of ?.
I was SUCH a New Math groupie!
This song flat-out kicks ass. A true lost classic.
Ah,.....memories. I still have the 45" CBS import promo for this tune and 'Angela' that Kevin Patrick gave me. I was playing bass in a rival band, and Kevin wished to know if I would like to join New Math, as their bass player was leaving the group. Great pop tune, penned by Gary Trainer as I recall. Gary's lead is reminiscent of Bobby Fuller's guitar in 'I Fought the Law'.
I am sure I have a couple of copies of this w/ PS
Was this on from Rochester compilation LP?
So many awesome memories listening to this... While I haven't lived in Rochester since the early 90s, I wouldn't trade my childhood there for anything. Fantastic music scene (all those college radio stations), Lakeshore Record Exchange, House of Guitars, Record Archive, etc.
Thanks for posting this. I Love New Math
I still have this 45 with the original sleeve. As a student at RIT I remember going to a big record store that had a small stage in the basement and would have bands play on Saturdays - I saw New Math there and loved this song. Thanks for posting!
