Navel's latest album, Vomiting, is a raw and intense musical journey that explores themes of discomfort, pain, and catharsis. The band's trademark blend of punk, hardcore, and noise rock is on full display here, with blistering guitar riffs, pounding drums, and guttural vocals that leave no doubt about their commitment to creating abrasive and confrontational music.
At times, Vomiting can be a challenging listen, with tracks like "Gag Reflex" and "Choking on Blood" pushing the boundaries of what is musically and emotionally tolerable. However, the album also contains moments of unexpected beauty and vulnerability, as on the haunting ballad "Nausea" or the atmospheric instrumental "Vomit Comet."
