Review by Just An Average Mormon

Mother Feather's album, Living Breathing Mirror, is a high-energy, theatrical explosion of rock and roll. The New York City-based band brings their unique blend of glam rock, punk, and metal to the forefront in this album, with lead singer Ann Courtney's dynamic vocals serving as the driving force behind each track.

The album opens with the explosive "Red Hot Metal," a catchy and anthemic track that sets the tone for what's to come. From there, the band delivers one hard-hitting, fist-pumping track after another, with highlights including the driving "Snakebite" and the riff-heavy "Totally Awesome."

What sets Living Breathing Mirror apart from other rock albums is Mother Feather's theatricality. Each track feels like a mini-performance, with Courtney's powerful vocals and the band's tight instrumentation working together to create a larger-than-life atmosphere. The album's closing track, "Egyptology," is a perfect example of this, with its soaring chorus and epic instrumentation.

"If you're feeling this you're my next victim," front-woman Ann Courtney intones with steely-eyed confidence, assuring the audience of motherfeathers ("MFers") of their submission to the cult. With their ferocious and enthralling live show, Mother Feather has ignited a wildfire of followers since hitting the New York club scene in 2010 and attracted the attention of heavy music legend and Metal Blade CEO Brian Slagel, who signed the self-proclaimed "pop cock rock" outfit to the label in 2015. Epic songs warrant larger-than-life costumes and dance, and a garishly bedazzled Courtney and hype-woman sidekick Elizabeth Carena slither, thrust, and high-kick their way through a set that invokes Marc Bolan's cheeky swagger, Bowie's braggadocio, and the howl and shimmy of a "To Bring You My Love"-era PJ Harvey. NYC rock mainstays Matt Basile and Gunnar Olsen occupy an authoritatively savage rhythm section propelled by Chris Foley's blistering one-man guitarmy. This is pop cock rock: anthemic riffs, now-or-never bravado, and tight dance beats bolstered by pop precision and purity of mission. "'Mother Feather' is the muse," says Courtney. "It is the embodiment of your wildest inspiration. Every song is a challenge -- to myself and the audience. I want catharsis and I want it now." They are good but the vocalist needs to change her style and add some guitar solos
I'm close with the lead singer. They're really cool chicks! I admire them, and their love for their fans. And the fact that they yanno keep in contact with us. I saw them at warped tour in Dallas last summer, they're amazing.
Saw them at warped tour a few years back, some of the coolest chicks i've met. I went absolutely feral in the crowd (which was maybe twenty people) and Anne grabbed my hand. Got a t-shirt I still wear now. One of my all time favorite bands.
I love this band!
I cant shake the feeling that Siouxie would be totally flattered. I really like them. Very kitchie

They're actually pretty good!!!!
People are down-voting this song because they don't think it fits on the record label?

Ah, metal fans. Never change. The most narrow-minded music "fans" of all.

Don't ever let anyone accuse you of being open-minded.

Vanilla ice cream or bust.
And just thought of something else... its the oh shit they went to a major label... they've sold out.... If a band has a label regardless of which one they are on and the type of music they play it all comes down to do the people working for said label know how to market said style of music and if do then why not sign said band if they are good enough to be pushed..
Galactic Cowboys..Not death metal or even really extreme... this band was also on metal blade ... for the people that are a bit older they may remember them..
other point . Earache records... Example of diversity.. Entombed. Carcass. Dub War...
Not every label has stuck to one style of music.. let alone been afraid to sign something good but different.. look at road runner records... they had sepultura.. obituary... and then the big one... Nickleback.. ....
good band, like glam version of Siouxsie & and the Banshees
I like Black Dahlia Murder and this band. stop being shitters
"This doesn't fit the label" is the equivalent of saying "This product doesn't belong in Walmart." It's a business first and an edgelord cafe later.
Its like Iggy, Jett and Depeche Mode had a baby! WICKED
Rock Goddess
this aesthetic is trash
