About McLain & Gregg

Born: June 24, 1960 Died: December 16, 2005 Tracy McLain started making music as a teenager with her father Doug McLain (bluegrass musician) and her sister Julie (died in a car accident in her teens). She lived in Colorado and worked with other local musicians (Haden Gregg from Starwood, Jimmy Ibbotson from Nitty Gritty Dirt Band). She was also a music teacher. She wrote the song "God needed an angel" for 11 year old Kate Keenan who died in an accident in 2000. The song was played on her own funeral. Tracy McLain died in a car accident on December 16th, 2005.
