The album opens with the title track, "Darling Nellie Grey," a hauntingly beautiful ballad that showcases Sullivan's vocal range and emotional depth. From there, she takes listeners on a journey through a variety of jazz standards, including "Stardust," "Body and Soul," and "My Blue Heaven."

Great upload, such a lovely voice... ????
Gorgeous :) I didn't know the story behind the song though. Tragic stuff
I feel like I've heard this somewhere before, though I don't know quite where. A very interesting backstory behind it as well. That was interesting to hear a woman singing about another woman, as it probably wasn't intended to be that way.
Such a sad song - almost uncomfortable in a way...?
Walking in the forest, listening Maxine with headphones, summer is coming, life smiles, ???
Lovely voice and wonderful performance here by one great lady vocalist of the Jazz Era that included many well or lesser known artists, but in her case, her long and successful career in the genre ensured her place as a Hall of Famer with her last recording only a few weeks before her death...Making her active for some 50 years in the Jazz Music scene...Really enjoyed this recording Al, didn't even notice the crackle without earphones!...
Glenn Johnson Well,a surprise here Al.Thought Peggy lee`s version was the first and original.Learn something every day!Nice one.
I've listened to this record so many times, and it still yanks at my heartstrings. You've done a lovely job with this, a difficult record to restore- heavy surface and a quiet registration, yet you've pulled back the clarity, all of Maxine's sibillants are clear, and her gentle voice shines out of remote time.
Thank you.
got the exact same copy.. did have a Columbia copy too at one time
Nice and smooth... Very nice vocal...
Nice version. I have seen the name but don't recall and of her output.
Not heard this lady before - nice smooth vocal.
