Review by Mx Palmer

Marty Grosz's album Left To His Own Devices is a stunning showcase of the guitarist's virtuosity and versatility. The album features a mix of classic jazz standards and Grosz's own compositions, all played with a unique blend of swing, blues, and ragtime influences.

From the opening track, "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)," Grosz's impeccable technique and playful improvisation are on full display. He effortlessly weaves in and out of the melody, adding his own twists and turns to this jazz standard.

On the original composition "Left to His Own Devices," Grosz shows off his songwriting skills with a catchy melody and clever lyrics. The song has a fun, upbeat feel that perfectly captures Grosz's playful personality.

Other standout tracks include "I'm Crazy 'Bout My Baby," which features Grosz's nimble fingerpicking and a lively horn section, and "The Joint is Jumpin'," a rollicking tune with a driving rhythm section and plenty of room for improvisation.
