OMG, That’s me! I mean it’s my ex, Suzann, doing really nice vocals (I forgot how good they were). I hope you listen with ear-buds. I produced and did all the instruments on this track. Amazing to find it online. It was done in 1978 in a living room in Ellensburg on a 4-track Teac (so a few irrevocable sub-mixes were required). Echo (overdone) was a Morley pedal (popular at the time for guitars), mics were SM-58s I think, and the drum fills were done on a cardboard box with butter knives turned backward (I think I augmented the kick drum with the same cardboard box). Drum machine was a Hammond Auto-Vari 64 (pre TR808). If I could remix this, I’d move guitar and flute interludes further back (but that tape and that machine are 40 years gone. Most of the tracks on that album really missed the mark, and one I truly wish I could obliterate. I haven’t listened to it since 1980… now I’m going to dig it out. My name was Mark Farmer at the time, but changed it to Sabol when I started working on my Ph.D in the early 90s. Appreciate the compliments, and I thought this background might be interesting to some.

Just incredible. Played tonight at my cousin's wedding in NY and had to inquire with the DJ. I'm in love with this cover.

love love love love
whos been listening to trepanado lately? love this
Thom ... thank you so much for doing that! it really was sort of forgotten in my mind until my ex, Suzann spotted it and alerted me to it. Matthew also thank you for the compliments! The rest of the album is pretty lame, actually, if I remember correctly. It was too much driven by the customers in the bars we were playing, and some very poor choices on my part. now that I am retired, I'm setting up a small home studio in my basement. if I come up with anything I think is worth sharing, I'll mention it here for sure, because Thom, you helped me energize that decision on the studio. I am also looking forward to exploring to see what other gems you might have picked out of obscurity. LOL
Ethereal and lovely. I'm happy to have stumbled across this today!
