Comments

Recorded on February 1, 1930.
Django Reinhardt decided to play jazz after he heard Louis Armstrong’s recording of “Dallas Blues.”
This track is just sublime !
Louis Armstrong is a genius!
The original piece (in sheet music) was published in 1912 by Hart Wand (and may have been written by him as well). It is regarded as the first published blues.
Trombonist J.C. Higginbotham contributes well here. Luis Russell, whose band provides the support, gets in a piano solo and Pops Foster is very strong on bass. Charlie Holmes on alto sax, Higgy and Louis wrap it up with flowing breaks.
Recorded on December 10, 1929.
great...
