Review by Michael Griffin

Boogie In My Bones by Laurel Aitken is a fantastic album that showcases the artist's incredible talent for blending rock and roll with ska and reggae. The album features a mix of original songs and covers, all of which are delivered with Aitken's signature style and energy.

The album opens with the title track, "Boogie In My Bones," a classic Aitken tune that sets the tone for the rest of the record. The song features a catchy guitar riff and a driving rhythm section, and Aitken's vocals are as strong as ever.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Judgement Day," a reggae-infused tune that showcases Aitken's ability to write socially conscious lyrics, and "Baba Kill Me Goat," a humorous track that highlights Aitken's playful side.

After starting in the music business controlling half a dozen jukeboxes across Jamaica, Chris Blackwell moved into record production.
Recording engineer Graeme Goodall recalled: Chris Blackwell had somehow or other talked himself into renting six jukeboxes from a friend of his. So Chris took these on, and Chris being Chris said, "Why am I buying records? Why don't I make them myself?". Boogie In My Bones was the first release on Blackwell's R&B label in Jamaica, and the first Jamaican release on Carlo Krahmer's Esquire label subsidiary Starlite Records.

A Kingston rendition of Charlie Gonzales's I'm Free, recorded for New York's Gotham label in 1951. The first 'ocal number one on the JBC charts. (which had started in August 1959) but sang by a Cuban, produced by an Englishman and allegedly backed by a Canadian band. Altken began his career in Kingston singing calypsos for the Jamaican Tourist Board, and would become known as the godfather of ska
Ein geiler song...... Klasse. ????
Chris Blackwell ( Book - The Islander ) page 50. According to Chris the horns are not played by Jamaicans, but an austraillian group called the Caribs
Someone knows a song says no more running no more running around oh boy i found my baby and everythings is allrig
According to David Katz "Solid Foundation" book, it entered the JBC (Jamaica Broadcasting Corp.) chart in October 1959 and stayed at number one for 13 weeks.
"When he recorded his first song, “Boogie in My Bones,” in 1958 for the wealthy white producer Chris Blackwell, Aitken’s career
was solidified. Goodall engineered this song in the studio, placing emphasis on the kick drum and string bass and carefully placing the microphones to produce the driving sound the dance crowds craved. Jamaican dancers needed to feel the vibe of the music, the pounding in the chest, in the bones, more than to see the composition."
