Review by Jeff Voegtlin

Lalo Schifrin's Mission Impossible album has been hailed as a classic in the world of film scores. The album, released in 1967, features the iconic theme song from the television series Mission Impossible, as well as other tracks that showcase Schifrin's talents as a composer and arranger.

The album opens with the instantly recognizable Mission Impossible theme, which has become a cultural touchstone in its own right. Schifrin's use of a brass section and percussion create a sense of urgency and excitement that perfectly captures the show's spy thriller vibe.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Jim on the Move," which features a jazzy piano riff and a lively horn section, and "The Sniper," which incorporates eerie strings and a haunting oboe melody to create a tense atmosphere.

Schifrin's use of unconventional instruments, such as the harpsichord in "The Plot," adds a unique flavor to the album and showcases his willingness to experiment with different sounds and textures.
