Kocytean is the eighth studio album by Swedish metal band Katatonia. The album was released on September 9, 2016, and has received critical acclaim from fans and critics alike.
The album features a unique blend of atmospheric and progressive metal, with hauntingly beautiful melodies and introspective lyrics. The band's trademark melancholic sound is present throughout the album, but they have also experimented with new sounds and textures, making Kocytean a refreshing departure from their previous work.
The album's opening track, "Takeover," sets the tone for the rest of the album, with its powerful riffs and atmospheric soundscapes. "Serein" and "Old Heart Falls" are standout tracks, with their emotive lyrics and haunting melodies. "Residual" is another highlight, with its intricate guitar work and dynamic rhythm section.
