Review by Jim and Cathy Watson

Jackie DeShannon's album "You Won't Forget Me" is a stunning collection of songs that showcases her incredible talent as a singer and songwriter. From the upbeat opening track "What the World Needs Now is Love" to the hauntingly beautiful "Come and Stay With Me," DeShannon's voice is pure and powerful, conveying a range of emotions with ease.

The album features a mix of original songs and covers, all of which are given DeShannon's unique touch. Standout tracks include "Put a Little Love in Your Heart," which became a hit for her, and "I Remember the Boy," a poignant ballad that showcases DeShannon's songwriting skills.

Throughout the album, DeShannon's voice is backed by lush arrangements that perfectly complement her vocals. The instrumentation is varied, ranging from the jangly guitars of "When You Walk in the Room" to the sweeping strings of "Splendor in the Grass."

This was a big hit on WORC 1310, Worc, Mass. I think they may have even broke it. I vaguely remember it.
This record made it all the way to # 2 on KFXMs 'fabulous 59' survey in summer of '62. Was released in March on Liberty. We all just loved it - couldn't understand why the other pop stations in range weren't playing it. To this day it's still 1 of my favorites. Nobody knew who she was then, YET.

Nobody who loves a great voice could ever forget Jackie DeShannon after this memorable performance of her "You Won't Forget Me" classic that introduced many of us baby-boomers to her unique talent & soulful voice...Bravo Jackie!
Nice song! Two other songs with a similar theme of a woman not being proud of herself for hurting the guy who loves her are Nothing Comes Easy by Sandie Shaw, and He Cried by The Shangri-Las.
