Pookie from Soupy Sales show dancing to this memories
Ripped off music and stupid lyrics and this was his hit single? Spare me! Btw - I heard it when it first came out and felt the same way...Yet this guy would go on to throw digs at Yip Harburg for his songs "Buddy can you spare a dime?" and "Somewhere over the rainbow." in the Timeline doc "Black Tuesday" ? Unbelievable!
1:15 hardest music in history
Bueno bueno!
I thought this was, "High Heeled Sneakers" at first.
should be a lot more views for this awesome song
Vim pelo Erasmo Carlos
So I looking at PBS here in New York something like eight to ten years ago
and the program was on musicology and they had I think a professor in musicology explaining music theory.on and after a time theory. REALIZED who the #$@%&* it WAS!!!!! So the learned professor continued his instruction...
And all I could hear in my head was....
Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh ....well that's my song.....NO one who was alive in 1965 can possibly get that wonderful e rful/damn song out of thier heads.....
RIP Kiddo....
As a Whitcomb pre-teen living in the U.S., this was one of my favorite songs.?❤?
I was only 10 years old when this song came out. I used to listen to it on WLS radio out of Chicago. I loved it. Still do.
I was 9 or 10 when this was on the radio. Am before fm.
Erasmo Carlos' version is way better. I'm sorry American folks, but in Brazil the rock and roll has more soul
The hidden gem is the jam at the end of the song starting at 2:16. Wow, they should have let that run for a while, the song is too short and they fade just when that really starts wailing!
I MISS THE GOOD OLE DAYS
so great . it terrified parents that the daughter would bring him home instead of one of the rolling stones
In 1972, my Dad brought home about eighty 45 RPM singles from the 1950s and 60s from a junk yard to give to my brother and I. “You Turn Me On” by Ian Whitcomb was one of the records. I was age 4 then, and my brother was 8. The breathy vocals and panting on the record gave me the CREEPS, and I asked my brother to please stop playing it, but he kept up just to annoy me. One day when Mom and Dad were busy, he half-nelsoned me to the floor and forced me to listen as he played this record over and over. I finally was able to reach the record, pulled it off our little record player, and smashed it into 10 pieces. My brother taped the record back together and gave it to me … and 50 years later I still have my smashed taped copy of this song in a plastic sleeve, and we are still laughing about it.
First time I've heard him; researching depression songs! I like him.
Inspiration for Tiny Tim? Love this crazy song.
Around the turn of the ‘80s he had a radio show on KROQ-FM in Pasadena. I called up one day, and he was very personable and approachable. I requested “River of No Return,” which was on his first US album. He said, “Who’s singing this?” and I said, “Good God, you are!” He told me that album was pretty easy to find at garage sales. FWIW he was born the day Jelly Roll Morton died.
I haven’t heard this song for years!
???
This silly ass song brings back a lot of fond memories of when I was 20 and didn't know
how great life was at that time.
Great! Eu canto e vou postar agora e vou por seu nome como título porque há uma coisa aqui ! Abraço!
The gay bar in Venice play the s##t out of this tune in 1965!
I remember when this was released. I don't get it. It sucks.
I had flashbacks of being 3 years old and jamming out to a new sound it like ah ah ah ah ah turned me on
