Georgia Fields - Georgia Fields

Review by M. Faye Jones

Georgia Fields' eponymous album is a charming and eclectic collection of songs that showcase her unique voice and songwriting style. The Melbourne-based artist draws on a range of influences, from folk and pop to jazz and cabaret, to create a sound that is both playful and sophisticated.

The album opens with "Map of the Moon," a whimsical tune that sets the tone for what's to come. Fields' vocals are light and airy, but there's a depth to her lyrics that hints at something more profound. This is followed by "Open Orange," a jazzy number that showcases Fields' ability to swing and scat with the best of them.

Other standout tracks include "Astral Debris," a dreamy ballad that features a haunting melody and some beautiful harmonies, and "Lilac Sky," a catchy pop tune that wouldn't be out of place on commercial radio.

Throughout the album, Fields is backed by a talented band of musicians who bring their own unique flavor to each track. The arrangements are inventive and playful, with unexpected twists and turns that keep the listener engaged.

Totally obsessed with this song!
This is one of the songs played in our supermarket branch. Along with 'One Finger'. Those songs keep me so alive each time I work there. I always want this to go on for at least half an hour, I don't care about songtext or meaning, I love this melody, I love this voice and it gets so stuck in my ear I keep singing it until my shift's over and afterwards. Judging from the joy created, miss Fields is runner-up to Jason Mraz and Maria Mena. Yes, if there WAS dubstep in that store, I'd favor that.
wow...what a great song, great voice and great music video..I'll buy this when it's released...very catchy tune and fun clip, keeps you watching.......good job R
Also, it sucks that Google doesn't immediately spit out the name of this tune when you search for "Rest your head on my chest" +lyrics or something. Took me a whole while and I thought I made up that verse. Is that a subtle corporate hint at the search engine wanting to be oiled? I actually want this to be the first search hit even if you only type in "great fucking song" and similar. Why did this song stop when I still type my comment? Oh God, Georgia Fields, you gorgeous songwriterette!
