Review by Giulia Angolini

"Futoribi" by Fat Day is an album that showcases the band's unique sound and style. The album features a mix of experimental rock, noise rock, and punk rock, creating a sound that is both eclectic and captivating.

The album opens with the track "Space Race," which sets the tone for the rest of the album with its distorted guitars, pounding drums, and frenzied vocals. The track "Long Live the New Flesh" is a standout, with its catchy chorus and driving beat.

Throughout the album, Fat Day displays their versatility as musicians, incorporating elements of jazz, funk, and even country into their songs. The instrumental track "Futoribi" is a prime example of the band's ability to create a unique sonic landscape that is both engaging and challenging.

About Fat Day

Fat Day is a Boston-based noisecore band, formed in Cambridge, MA in 1992. Fat Day's conception as a standard guitar/bass/drums/vocals punk band is infused with a performance art aesthetic. For example, they have played dressed only in clear cellophane wrap or with vocalist Matt Pakulski locked inside a speaker cabinet for the duration of a show. Their 1997 tour of the UK and Ireland featured a fifth member playing saxophone that drew comparisons to Captain Beefheart, and for their 1998 tour of the U.S and Japan the band built a set of oscillators activated by choreographed dances on four small trampolines. These electronic instruments were later condensed into a more manageable helmet form that the band would wear and play songs on in the midst of their otherwise guitar-based set. Closely associated with bands like , Fat Day released a number of records through their own label and other labels as well.
