Everett Shock - Ghost Boys

Review by Steve Jones

Everett Shock's album Ghost Boys is a haunting and evocative collection of songs that explore themes of loss, memory, and the supernatural. From the mournful balladry of "The Ghost of You" to the eerie atmospherics of "Spectral Sun," Shock's music transports listeners to a world of spectral apparitions and spectral landscapes.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Phantom Limb," an achingly beautiful ode to the pain of missing someone who is no longer there. With its sparse instrumentation and haunting vocals, the song captures the essence of grief and longing in a way that is both deeply personal and universal.

Another highlight of the album is "Wraiths," a brooding and atmospheric track that conjures up images of shadowy figures lurking in the dark corners of the mind. With its eerie synths and haunting melodies, the song is a masterclass in creating mood and atmosphere.

About Everett Shock

As the 80's progressed, only played sporadically and by the mid 80's they had more or less disbanded. Everett Shock was planning to leave the Bay Area and Henry Kaiser asked Shock to record unused material from the past few years before moving away to document the work and compositions of the past few years. For reasons not entirely clear, the record was released under Shock's name rather than . Wold described the album as a "love gift" to Shock. The album was mainly recorded in a home studio in southern California. All members of Name except Statham performed on the album. Everett Shock is now a professor at Arizona State University.
