Review by Michael Levy

The Down Beats' album Again I'm Gonna Put You Down is a captivating and dynamic collection of blues tracks. With their signature blend of traditional blues and modern influences, the band delivers a soulful and energetic performance that will leave listeners wanting more.

The album features a mix of original tracks and covers, all of which showcase the band's impressive musicianship and raw talent. From the driving rhythms and blistering guitar work on "I Can't Quit You Baby" to the haunting vocals and melancholic melodies of "I'm A Stranger," each song on the album is a testament to the Down Beats' mastery of the blues genre.

What sets Again I'm Gonna Put You Down apart from other blues albums is the band's willingness to experiment with different styles and sounds. The inclusion of the upbeat and funky "Let Me Love You Baby" and the soulful ballad "I'm Ready" adds a refreshing and unexpected twist to the album.

Memories of Friday dance nights at the KofC in Newington! Many southies hanging with the Down Beats too!
This was a famous Ct band for sure.
I consider myself fortunate to have lived in Bloomfield three houses down the street from where The Downbeats often rehearsed with their sounds wafting through my bedroom window rehearsing this and other super catchy tunes on hot summer evenings when I was just 4.
I remember the Lit as well, was in TKE and we put the dances on, lots of fun. From 64 to 68 I remember Knock on Wood, thought they cut a copy of that one. One of my favorites.
I remember those dances at the Lit in 1960 1961. Awesome
i want pictures of the harford downbeats any out there
i used to go to lake compounce to the record hops i saw the downbeats they were great. the song i m going to put you down was a favorite of mine i think it was 1961.ayear ago i looked it up on my computer and found it i m 70 now and i still love it i think the girl singer took her shoes off what a doll
Lit hall brings back great memories. Walking there on friday nights for the frat and sorority dances with all of my south end buddies brings back wonderful memories. The Downbeats were a great group when both Barbara Knight was lead vocalist and than Stella became lead vocalist. Ronny M &Taya were always fun to watch dance. It was always a struggle to make it to the end of the dance without a harmless fistfight breaking out and closing the night early. It was usually Ronny in the middle of it. Those were truly the Good Old Days!
To all who posted, my name is Keith Knight and Barbara and I  are first cousins. My dad and her mother were sister and brother.. I remember this song also and was so proud when the Down Beats cut a record. Barbara  is and always will be special some of our family still lives in Hartford Ct. and I live in Bloomfield one town over. Thanks for posting the song . I as a family member of Barbara really appreciate it. She had great talent.as well as the entire group.
Will never forget my friend Bob Carabillo playing in the Downbeats. He had a lot of soul.

My name is Bob Kammann.  I was the drummer on this recording.  I played with jim s, Brian s, melvin T, Barbara, Dina and Melvin's dad in the Hartford Downbeats from '61 to '63.  I remember many of our gigs at Lit. Hall.  Any of the members still out there??
LONG time since I heard this.Born in Hartford; still live in W Htfd
I used to hear them in the summer in the early '70's, at the old Hall High School in W. Hartford!!!  Those dances were so much fun!!!
Great to hear your comment about my grandfather, Ted thomas. I think of him often.
Boy... Mad Dad was barely a teen when this came
An addition to my next program list on my community radio doo wop show.  Good, rare stuff...
THIS IS MY RECORD, TO BE PLAYED AT MY GOING HOME! BOTH EXPLAIN MY LIFE HISTORY, REALLY.
