Dean Wareham - Dean Wareham

Review by John Martin

Dean Wareham's self-titled album is a refreshing and captivating addition to his already impressive discography. The album showcases Wareham's signature dreamy and atmospheric sound, with his hazy vocals and intricate guitar work taking center stage.

From the opening track "The Dancer Disappears" to the closing "Happy & Free," the album takes listeners on a journey through Wareham's introspective and poetic lyrics. The standout track, "Love Is Not a Roof Against the Rain," features a haunting melody that perfectly complements Wareham's melancholic lyrics.

Just discovered this song. I really love it.Great video. Please check out the song " Dancing on the sand - the writers ". Thank you. https://youtu.be/KPLsnIsOh7Y
"Bring back the magic, and light the match... There is a train I'm hoping to catch" is lovely and lilting on "The Dancer Disappears" he croons on the opening song. Dean Wareham is someone to watch in the coming years after March 11, 2014, in which this album "Dean Wareham" was released. I find it interesting and comforting to hear balladeers and their poetry. Musicians, from Jimmy Buffett to Bob Dylan have amused us in American RnR for centuries, and probably even further in ancient times, you see. Born in Wellington, New Zealand in 1963, Wareham spent most of his teen years living in New York City where his family moved in 1977. After high school, he moved to Boston for college and spent a year living abroad in Germany before returning to Boston. In 1987, he formed Galaxie 500 with drummer Damon Krukowski and bassist Naomi Yang. By the end of 1991, Wareham had formed Luna with bassist Justin Harwood of the Chills and drummer Stanley Demeski from the Feelies. Purportedly named after Diane Keaton's character in the Woody Allen film Sleeper, Luna issued their debut full-length, "Lunapark", on Elektra. In 2014, Wareham issued his first full-length solo album, the eponymously titled Dean Wareham, which featured slick, synth-filled production by My Morning Jacket's Jim James. This is a "must-have" for anyone's music collection, and I assure you you'll have to agree, Dean Wareham is quite the ballad writer of sorts. Enjoy and Pax, Murf
Not used to pretty and hopeful when it comes to Dean Wareham's music. Thanks for the smile, as 2020 really needs more songs like this one.
They're coming! Let's look at the light. Here below is not easy! The phase of thought and imagination ended. Now the stage is RATIONAL.
living in this world full of loneliness and magic
GALAXIE 500 on fire....
Granted that the late 50s and early 60s were the "psychedelic" moment of automobile design, futuristic spaceship design...but music lagged by about half a decade. I think of the "psychedelic years" as defined by music to be from 1966-1968.
SONG OF THE DAY (3 NOVEMBER 2014)
Dean Wareham - The Dancer Disappears (2014)

This is good old Dean of Galaxie 500/Luna/Dean and Britta fame albeit on a lonely path of his own now, since this is his first solo album in a career that started almost three decades ago. Sweetly melancholic, psychedelic and soothing, classy and a classic.

Now that this surfaced, the goverment can not deny having extraterrestrial and alien technology. Wake up people! How long we gonna let them enslave us?
