Daweh Cungo's album Study Garvey is a masterpiece of roots reggae music. The album is a tribute to the teachings and philosophy of Marcus Garvey, the Jamaican political leader and Pan-Africanist. The album features ten tracks, each one exploring different aspects of Garvey's ideas and themes.

The album opens with the track "Jah is the Only One," a powerful ode to the Rastafarian faith and its belief in the divinity of Haile Selassie. The song is driven by a deep bassline and Cungo's soulful vocals, which are reminiscent of classic reggae singers like Bob Marley and Peter Tosh.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Marcus Say," a tribute to Garvey's revolutionary ideas about black empowerment and self-reliance, and "Jah Mercy," a meditative track that explores the spiritual dimensions of Garvey's teachings.

Throughout the album, Cungo's lyrics are thoughtful and insightful, reflecting his deep understanding of Garvey's philosophy and its relevance to contemporary society. The music is expertly produced, with a rich and full sound that highlights the intricate rhythms and melodies of classic reggae music.

About Daweh Cungo

Roots Reggae Singer. Daweh is the son of singer . Born on March 28th 1969 in Kingston's Jubilee Hospital, he went to school in Allman Town and began singing from the age of eight after visiting his father's native Trelawny, where father and son would perform together during school holidays. A keen student of the visual arts, he had ambitions to be a painter until destiny - and also the necessity of earning a living - intervened. He was on the point of joining the army before recording his debut (and still unreleased) Bread Winner for Alton Ellis in 1990. Songs for African Star, Andrew Nash and Kariang then followed before he was introduced to producer Barry O'Hare, who released his 1995 singles , and to growing acclaim. In 1996 he made his first trip to Europe, and the following year Barry O'Hare produced his debut album , which by virtue of it's "live" reggae rhythms and outstanding array of cultural songs, was soon being hailed as a modern roots classic. Apart from a handful of singles for TMI and Mikey Jah Son - who produced the excellent - little was heard from him thereafter, although behind the scenes he was busy completing albums for both Leggo engineer Bravo and TMI, who released his popular roots single .
