Review by Erik Russell

The album "Fat Cats Bigga Fish Get Down Get Down" by Coup is a powerful and impactful work that captures the essence of political hip-hop. This album is an ode to social justice, with lyrics that tackle issues of race, class, and inequality.

Coup's signature sound is a blend of funk, soul, and hip-hop, which creates a unique and engaging listening experience. The beats are infectious, and the rhymes are sharp and witty.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Pork and Beef," which features a sample from the classic soul tune "Summertime." The song is a scathing critique of the meat industry and its impact on the environment, as well as the health of consumers.

Another highlight of the album is "Fat Cats Bigga Fish," which speaks to the disparities between the wealthy and the poor. The song is a call to arms for those who are struggling to make ends meet, and it encourages listeners to fight for their rights and demand change.

Communist-influenced, socially conscious hip-hop group from Oakland, California, originally comprised of emcees Boots Riley, E-Roc, and DJ Pam the Funkstress. E-Roc left the group in 1997 to become a longshoreman, but Boots and Pam preservered. The group had a brief moment of worldwide fame at the time of the 9/11 attacks when it was revealed that the proposed cover for their upcoming album Party Music featured Boots blowing up the World Trade Center. This cover was swiftly pulled! It is ironic to note that this discovery was made mere days before the actual attacks.

I must've been living under a rock because I just discovered this. it's dope.
Damn the credits of this video is straight up a who's who of Bay rap at the time. E-40's sister Suga T (part of The Click, had that verse on the classic Sprinkle Me) is the hamburger girl.

I couldn't make out their faces but the credits have E-40 and The Click at the stairs scene and Jamal Diggs aka J Diggs, who got caught up robbing banks with Mac Dre, at the shell game scene, which is pretty dope because this was around the time those two Vallejo camps (Crest side and Hill side) started feuding.

Only one missing is Pac which is crazy cuz this would have been exactly at his intersection when this video came out.
amazing
