Review by Patrícia Borges Ferreira

The album "Beat In Liverpool" by Clayton Squares and The Hideaways is a remarkable tribute to the iconic Liverpool sound of the 1960s. The album features twelve tracks that perfectly capture the essence of the Merseybeat era, complete with jangling guitars, infectious melodies, and catchy choruses.

From the opening track "Love You More" to the closing number "I'm Not Talking", the album is a non-stop barrage of foot-tapping rhythms and sing-along choruses. The standout tracks include "It's Alright", "I Can Tell", and "I'm Not Talking", all of which showcase the band's impressive musicianship and songwriting skills.

The album's production is top-notch, with every instrument and vocal track perfectly balanced and mixed. The sound is warm and inviting, and the listener can easily imagine themselves transported back to the swinging 60s.

I remember these guys...Is that Ossie Yue far right.....Regards...Dave
Great version, despite the quality. Also covered by the Pretty Things of course.
Thinking of John Shell today!xx
I remember the Sink really well, under the Rumbling Tum. The Roadrunners, Clayton Squares and The Fix in later years, all played there I think.
Amazing track. Sadly one of very few from a belting "second wave" Merseybeat group. Obviously a favourite with the audience due to the leakage you can hear them singing along. The Hideaways did perform on an American ABC film called "Liverpool A Go Go" those tracks should they come to light would be real gems. Not to mention the other great Merseybeat acts on the film too... Cheers Mike :-)
