Captain Beefheart - Strictly Personal

Review by Martin Heindl

The album Strictly Personal by Captain Beefheart, released in 1968, is a unique and experimental piece of music that showcases the artistic vision and eccentricity of the band. With its unconventional sound, the album was a departure from the more traditional rock and roll of the time, and it remains a cult classic to this day.

The album features some of Captain Beefheart's most inventive and experimental compositions, including the psychedelic "Ah Feel Like Ahcid" and the jazz-infused "Kandy Korn." The band's signature sound is on full display throughout the album, with complex rhythms, dissonant harmonies, and Beefheart's distinctive growling vocals.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Safe as Milk," a bluesy number that showcases Beefheart's songwriting skills and his ability to blend different musical styles into a cohesive whole. The song's catchy melody and memorable lyrics make it a fan favorite to this day.
