Comments
Bunk Johnson trumpet, Jim Robinson trombone, George Lewis clarinet, Lawrence Marrero banjo, Alcide Pavageau bass, Baby Dodds drums.
One of the best real Blues performed by the best New Orleans jazz band in the 1940s - listen to Bunk moan the blues during the last chorus - all recorded with one single mike by the amazing Bill Russell - in those glorious days of real jazz!!! Baby Dodds of course on drums - George Lewis on clarinet - Jim Robinson - - trombone - etc - what a sound!!
Leaving a comment on this random video that ALL your efforts are fantastic and appreciated by more of us than will probably ever tell you. I recently began playing keyboard in a Dixieland band, and these recordings have been instrumental (pun intended) in helping me understand and preserve the style. Thanks!!
