Brian Harnetty - American Winter

Review by Elisha Cooper

American Winter, the latest album by Brian Harnetty, is a hauntingly beautiful tribute to the people and places of rural America. The album is a collection of field recordings, archival material, and original compositions that blend seamlessly together to create a unique sonic landscape.

Harnetty's use of found sounds, such as the creaking of old wooden floors or the rustling of leaves, adds a sense of authenticity and intimacy to the album. The way he weaves these sounds together with his own compositions is masterful, creating a sense of nostalgia and longing for a bygone era.

The album is not without its moments of darkness and despair, however. Tracks such as "The Unseen" and "Silent City" are haunting and unsettling, evoking the loneliness and isolation that can be found in rural America.
