The combination of the harmony they sing and the imagery of the Triplets literally coming out of the shadows having not been seen by the audience for close to 30 minutes (and far longer in the context of the world of the story).

It's like, "here is your ticket out of this mess: 3 resilient, balmy, over the hill lounge singers". It all gives the viewer such a pleasant sense of hope.

I woke up to this tune as it shuffled through my sleeping soundtrack ! I wrote a song in 1995 called Unconditional Love based off of the different pitches of 3 cast iron frying pans. I love Triplets Of Belleville & Under The Bridge is my favorite tune from the movie due to cool percussion tone & rhythms !!! :D

This movie is very, very odd, but a real must-watch for anyone who appreciates what goes into this kind of animation. There's I believe less than 10 lines of dialogue aside from this song, but the animation is simply stellar beyond compare. There's such a gritty detail and movement to these caricatures that's just a true one of a kind experience.

Specially went up to London from Devon . and watched it at 11.30 am in a minor Theatre . Almost empty apart from immigrant kids allowed to run around screaming and un supervised by immigrant au pairs .
Despite that .... Whoooo wee',,!! what a wonderful brilliant film . fixed in my akashic memory fo-eva.. lol
