Barren Cross - Atomic Arena

Review by BirOfis Destek

Atomic Arena, the fourth studio album by American Christian metal band Barren Cross, is a solid addition to the band's discography. Released in 1988, the album showcases the band's signature sound of heavy metal with a message of faith.

The album's opening track, "Imaginary Music," sets the tone with its fast-paced guitar riffs and soaring vocals. The title track, "Atomic Arena," is a standout with its catchy chorus and powerful lyrics about the dangers of nuclear war. "Heaven or Nothing" and "King of Kings" are also noteworthy tracks, with their anthemic choruses and impressive guitar solos.

While some of the songs on Atomic Arena may sound dated to modern ears, the album's overall message of hope and faith still resonates. Barren Cross's commitment to their Christian beliefs is evident throughout the album, making it a must-listen for fans of Christian metal.

Comments

"Atomic Arena" is one of the strongest albums ever on Christian metal. It is musically very good but not quite as amazing as Stryper with "To Hell With The Devil" or Believer with "Sanity Obscure". However, the message is well-presented here. It is not trying to please anyone. The first song "Imaginary Music" may be one of the least controversial songs of the album but it has a very strong message. Metal, rock, and other genres serve imaginary - it makes you think that you are something "cool" - like a rock star just when you listen to it. The most controversial song is "Killers of the Unborn" which is about abortion - it doesn't give any compromise and in fact the story is very disturbing and it is true and happens all the time."In The Eye of Fire" is one of my favorite songs - it gives no compromising either. "Terrorist Child" doesn't necessary refer to any certain group, so it is good for all the people to remember. The first four songs work like a dream. The rest of the album is also very good, "Heaven Or Nothing" and "Dead Lock" are my favorites too but the best songs were definitely in the beginning of the album.
