Parallelogram is a collaborative album between experimental rock band Bardo Pond and indie rock legends Yo La Tengo, released in 2015. The album is a beautiful and haunting collection of six tracks that showcase the unique sounds and styles of both bands.
The album opens with the dreamy and atmospheric "And Then," a track that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The haunting vocals of Bardo Pond's Isobel Sollenberger blend perfectly with Yo La Tengo's lush instrumentation, creating a sound that is both ethereal and grounded.
The standout track on the album is "Needles," a hypnotic and psychedelic journey that builds slowly to a climax of swirling guitars and pounding drums. The track is a perfect example of the chemistry between the two bands, as they seamlessly blend their sounds together to create something truly special.
Throughout the album, Bardo Pond and Yo La Tengo explore a range of moods and textures, from the melancholy "Sonic Nurse" to the driving and intense "Descender." The album is a masterclass in experimental rock, showcasing the creativity and talent of both bands.
