Review by Alberto Enrique Contreras Romero

The Balmorhea album is a masterpiece of instrumental music, showcasing the band's talent for creating atmospheric soundscapes that transport the listener to another world. From the opening track, the listener is drawn into a dreamlike state, where the music flows and ebbs like the tides of a vast ocean. The album is a journey through different moods and emotions, from the melancholic beauty of "Sky Could Undress" to the uplifting energy of "Truth". The musicianship on display is superb, with each member of the band contributing to the overall sound in a unique and meaningful way. The arrangements are intricate and complex, yet never feel overwhelming or contrived. Instead, they serve to enhance the emotional impact of the music, creating a sense of depth and richness that is truly captivating. the Balmorhea album is a must-listen for fans of instrumental music and anyone who appreciates the power of music to transport and inspire.

About Balmorhea

Balmorhea (bal-more-ray) was formed in 2006 by founders Rob Lowe and Michael A. Muller and play a modern style of classical music with textures and motifs nodding to the American West. Joined by a revolving cast of additional musicians, Texas-based group utilize plaintive strings as well as a host of other instruments to create a delicately layered and pastoral sound, sometimes reminiscent to post-classical indie ensembles like Stars of the Lid and Rachel's.
