About Arvydas Vilčinskas
Arvydas Vilčinskas (born January 1, 1958) is a Lithuanian singer, songwriter, musician and composer. He was among the most daring singers of the Singing Revolution era who symbolically yet openly sung about the things the Lithuanian nation suffered under the Soviet occupation. His concerts used to attract full stadiums in the late 80s and many of his songs are still well known.
Vilčinskas was studying cello at the Čiurlionis school of arts in Vilnius when he first heard The Beatles and was inspired to sing and write songs. He wrote his first song Mano Lietuva (My Lithuania) in 1988. The debut studio album Į Lietuvą (To Lithuania) became the best-selling debut album when released in 1989. The title song won the best song of the year prize by Jaunimo Estrada 89'. With his band Medus (Honey) he toured Lithuania, USA and Canada, 8 studio albums were released.
He was bass guitarist and vocalist in group Versmė.
